Black History Month!!

Today, I woke up to a call from my mother informing me that my father was robbed at gunpoint. It hasn't sat well with me at all. I decided to do a post on Black on Black Crime because even though we are celebrating Black History this month, we are still killing one another. I am so bothered by the fact that we are taught about the hardship our ancestors have endured so that we may have a better life and some of us take it for granted. We have come a long way since our ancestors were brought here as slaves and treated like dogs. We forget the Civil Rights era when so many of our people marched for our freedom and equality. Our generation is dealing with so many factors of drug-abuse, self-failure and blaming the economy for our poor choices. We have forgotten that we have life and that life can be more abundant only through Jesus. We have to stop the Black on Black crime and harming one another. We are a people who should support one another, not harm one another. We should encourage one another, not put each other down. We have come so far as a people to allow this generation to keep us held back because of greed. Some of our people are too lazy to work hard or to try to have something for themselves. I was looking up some of the prisoners in the State of Georgia and it was so many black men in prison for assault, burglary, manslaughter and other harsh criminal behaviors. I feel for my people because some of us do not even care. I noticed how many of some of our women are not working, on State Programs, and living off of other people because we are too lazy to work, get motivated to go back to school and make themselves better people for ourselves and our children. Another thing that hasn't sat well with me is the fact that during this income tax season, so many of our sisters are spending their money on an expensive hair weave and getting our nails done rather than making sure that their kids have food to eat, a better education or getting their lives in order. As soon as the tax season come around, so many of our people are buying things they don't need and not doing what they need to do. Some of our people are lost and we need to help them to see that life is so much more than crime to one another or having the best hair weave in Atlanta. People we need to get beyond the materialistic stuff and get our lives together, our future as a people is at stake!!!!
Love One Another,
